p38 phosphorylation. Detection of p38 phosphorylation in HEp-2 and A549 cells infected with HPIV-1. Cells were infected with live and inactivated HPIV-1 at different time points, and p38 phosphorylation was detected. Whole cell lysates were prepared for Western blotting (as described in Materials and Methods) to detect the phosphorylated (active) forms of the kinases. (a) Total protein concentrations in HEp-2 cells. Phospho-p38 was detected with monoclonal antibody sc-7973 and the total p38 sc-535 in HEp-2 cells; (b) densitometric analysis of p38 protein concentrations; (c) phospho-p38 and total protein concentrations in A549 cells; (d) densitometric analysis of the protein concentrations.
