The effect of the HLA-G 14 bp ins/del polymorphism in the 3′-untranslated region (3′UTR) on HLA-G expression may be influenced by linkage disequilibrium with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the 3′UTR, especially the +3142 and +3187 SNPs according to one study [29], and in the 5′-upstream regulatory region.
