Reactive intermediates formed by MPO. In the presence of hydrogen peroxide and chloride, bromide, thiocyanate, tyrosine, or nitrite, MPO catalyses the formation of hypochlorous, hypobromous, and hypothiocyanous acids, tyrosyl radical, and reactive nitrogen intermediates.
