Neuroprotective Activity of ()-Epigallocatechin Gallate against Lipopolysaccharide-Mediated Cytotoxicity

EGCG inhibits LPS-induced expression of inflammatory cytokines. Human macrophages derived from peripheral blood monocytes were treated with indicated concentrations of EGCG for 1 h prior to 100 ng/mL of LPS treatment for additional 24 h. RNA was extracted and subjected to quantitative real-time RT-PCR of TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. Data were expressed as mean ± SD of three independent experiments. ; , as compared with LPS treated.
