Particular structures of inflammasome complexes composed of three main components: sensor, adaptor, and effector. The NLR proteins (Nlrp1, Nlrp3, Nlrp6, and Nlrc4) and HIN200 protein AIM2 mobilize the complexes in a stimulus-specific manner. Activated receptors recruit the ASC adaptor protein, and the CARD domain from ASC protein structure is necessary for procaspase-1 recruitment and caspase-1 activation.
