A High-Salt Diet Disturbs the Development and Function of Natural Killer Cells in Mice

The genes encoding activation and functional markers of NK cells are downregulated following culture in high-salt medium. Mouse splenic NK cells were sorted by FACS and cultured in normal or high-salt medium with or without coculture with RMA-S. Quantitative reverse transcription-PCR (RT-qPCR) was used to analyze the mRNA levels of the activation genes, CD25 (a) and CD69 (b), and the functional genes, CD107a (c) and IFN-γ (d), in NK cells.
