Inflammation and Dysmetabolism in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases

Call for Papers

In recent years, the link between metabolic disorders and systemic autoimmune diseases has been investigated in many studies. Obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndromes seem to have an increased prevalence in connective tissue diseases and arthritis and tend to play a major role in disease activity and tissue damage. Of interest, adipokines, which are secreted by adipose tissue, are able to interplay with immune cells and have an important impact on inflammatory response. On the other hand, some lipid mediators, like endocannabinoids, resolvins, and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, have shown promising anti-inflammatory and proresolving features.

This Special Issue aims to provide up-to-date summary and new advances on the role of dysmetabolism in systemic autoimmune disorders. Therefore, it will encourage reviews, minireviews, and original research articles.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Metabolic syndrome and systemic autoimmune diseases
  • Diabetes and systemic autoimmune diseases
  • Adipokines in systemic autoimmune diseases
  • Obesity in systemic autoimmune diseases
  • Dyslipidemia in systemic autoimmune diseases
  • Bioactive lipids in systemic autoimmune diseases
  • Dysmetabolism and cardiovascular risk in systemic autoimmune diseases
