Medical Plants and Immunological Regulation

Description

Immunomodulation is crucial for maintaining homeostasis of the immune system and is essential for health. Lots of diseases are caused by abnormalities in immunomodulation. Medical plants have a long history and are traditionally used to prevent and treat a variety of diseases. Nowadays, they are getting much more popular around the world. Increasing studies show that medical plants and their components/derivatives have immunomodulatory effects, such as stimulatory effects on immune cells, immune organs, cytokine production, and tumorigenesis, as well as inhibitory functions on inflammation, allergy, and autoimmune disease. Both innate and adaptive immunity may be modulated by specific monomer, single herb, or compound prescription of medical plants.

We invite authors to submit high-quality original research and review articles addressing any of these issues in both basic researches about immunological mechanism of monomer of medical plant, single medical plant and compound prescription of medical plants, and clinical researches about medical plant preparations in all aspects of immunology research.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • New strategies in discovery of immunomodulatory effects of medical plants
  • New approaches for selecting and optimizing monomer and compound prescription of medical plants with immunomodulatory effects
  • New advances in revealing the role of medical plants in immune regulation
  • Development and/or novel strategies of medical plants for the treatment of inflammation, allergy, and autoimmune disease
  • Treatment of medical plants against cancer and possible immunological mechanism involved
  • Future for medical plants in immunomodulatory therapies
