SAAKO mice are capable of mounting an acute phase response. WT and SAAKO mice were injected subcutaneously with 0.8 μg/g LPS followed 4 hr later by an intraperitoneal injection of 3H-cholesterol-labeled J774 macrophages. Control WT mice received PBS only. Aliquots of plasma collected from individual mice 24 hr after macrophage administration (28 hr after LPS) were subjected to SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted using (a) rabbit anti-mouse SAA; and (b) rabbit anti-mouse SAP.
