In this graphical illustration, nanocrystalline CuO intercalated in CuY zeolite catalyzes the simultaneous oxidation/reduction of benzhydrol (the zeolite cage ensuring closer proximity between the reactants) and the products subsequently released from CuY zeolite. The figure also illustrates another added advantage of CuY zeolite as an efficient support for nano-CuO, by stabilizing it and also preventing its aggregation.
