(a) High quality boron nanotube which was analyzed using fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis. Note the structure is clearly hollow and the wall to wall spacing is 0.36–0.37 nm. (b) FFT image used for analysis (image is 3 nm × 3 nm), confirming the interwall spacing is 0.36–0.37 nm. All materials in this image were grown with MgB2, an iron wire instead of NiB, and no MCM-41.
