C. hirsuta plant is a ubiquitous weed. The aqueous leaf extract of this plant was reacted with silver nitrate solution of 1 mM. The reaction medium changed to a reddish-brown colour, indicating the formation of silver nanoparticles. The silver nanoparticles were characterized using electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and others. The silver nanoparticles were effective as a cidal agent on Culex quinquefasciatus larvae.
