The numbers (1–9) indicate the positions where we performed low coherence interferometric measurements to detect the cell inside the first gap (corresponding to positions 6-7); they are drawn outside the 3D-SMS region so that they do not mask any part of the 3D-SMS. The “upper section” of the fluorescence image is the region outside the 3D-SMS and does not contain significant details. The readout beam for interferometric testing arrives on the silicon device from that side.
