Effect of Surface Charge and Hydrophobicity Modulation on the Antibacterial and Antibiofilm Potential of Magnetic Iron Nanoparticles

Figure 3

(a) FT-IR spectra of APTMS-MNP, OA-MNP, and MNPs. MNPs (10 mg) were mixed and grinded with KBr to give a final weight of 0.12 g. The mixture was then pressed into a disc for analysis. Samples were FTIR scanned in the range from 400 to 4000 cm−1 at a resolution of 4 cm−1. Each spectrum is an average of 32 scans. Data is presented as % transmittance. (b) Surface charge of APTMS-MNP, OA-MNP, and MNP. (c) Scanning electron micrograph of MNP, OA-MNP, and APTMS-MNP.
