Recent Advances in Ferroelectric Nanosensors: Toward Sensitive Detection of Gas, Mechanothermal Signals, and Radiation

Figure 5

Principles of motion detection using a Li-doped ZnO NW-PDMS composite layer. (a) Resistive sensing: the resistance of the AgNW electrode layer changes with the elongation of the AgNW network during bending and stretching motions. (b) Piezoelectric sensing: the piezoelectric output signal is generated between the top and bottom AgNW electrodes when the external force or stress is applied to the device as a result of instantaneous bending and stretching. The piezoelectric output voltage is generated due to polarized Li-doped ZnO NWs packed between the AgNW electrodes. (c) Piezoelectric (top) and resistive (bottom) output measurement for bending (70°) and stretching motions (3 mm) at different speeds. Reprinted with permission from [81].
