Green Route Synthesis of Antimicrobial Nanoparticles

Description

The green synthesis of nanoparticles such as metal, metal oxides, and metal sulfides has been getting particular attention in the fields of nanotechnology and nanobiotechnology. Compared to previous physical and chemical methods, green synthesis of nanoparticles is more cost-effective and more environmentally friendly, as it avoids toxic chemicals.

Currently, the challenge in the field is to develop nanoparticles in the form of medicines for microbial diseases that may directly impact human health and indirectly damage our economy. The controlling of disease-causing pathogens such as urinary tract infection, oral disease-causing pathogens, gastrointestinal pathogens, wound pathogens, or other disease-causing clinical pathogens is a major issue worldwide. The development and applications of nanoparticles for antimicrobial activity are important topics. Therefore, there is a necessity to pursue more studies in antimicrobial nanoparticle preparation, characterisation, and applied research that can help scientists, physicians, and dentists develop good antimicrobial drugs in several entities.

The aim of this Special Issue is to solicit original research articles highlighting research relevant to antimicrobial nanoparticle development in medicine. Review articles discussing the state of the art are also welcome.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plant-mediated synthesis and antimicrobial activity of metal nanoparticles
  • Biosynthesis and characterisation of metal oxide nanoparticles
  • Green synthesis of novel nanoparticles and characterisation
  • Antibacterial activity of biosynthesised nanoparticles
  • Antifungal activity of nanoparticles
  • Antiviral activity of different nanoparticles
  • Mechanism of action of nanoparticles on antimicrobial activity
  • Toxicity analysis of nanoparticles
  • Animal studies exploring the antimicrobial activity of nanoparticles
  • Control of disease-causing pathogens using nanoparticles
  • Nanocomposite preparation and antimicrobial potential
  • Novel antimicrobial products using nanoparticles
