Inhibition of Methylglyoxal-Mediated Protein Modification in Glyoxalase I Overexpressing Mouse Lenses
MGO and GSH levels in organ-cultured lenses. Lenses were organ cultured for 48 hr in the absence or presence of 5 mM GLD. Lenses were homogenized in 10% TCA, and supernatants were used for MGO and GSH estimation as described in the Materials and Methods. MGO levels (a) are expressed as pmoles/lens (), and GSH levels (b) are expressed as nmoles/lens. The average wet weight of each lens was 5.5 mg. The results are the mean SD from 6 lenses.
