Pirfenidone Alleviates Choroidal Neovascular Fibrosis through TGF-β/Smad Signaling Pathway

Figure 1

Changes in the mouse retina 1 week after laser photocoagulation. (a) FFA reveals strong fluorescent leakage at the fundus injury point one week after laser photocoagulation. (b) HE staining results show that Laser-induced CNV presented vascular plexus with wide blood vessel lumen which originated from the choroid and grew towards the bottom of the retina. (c) A subretinal spindle-shaped hyperreflective lesion represented the development of neovascularization. Scale bar: 50 µm. RPE: retinal pigment epithelium; OS: outer segment; IS: inner segment; ONL: outer nuclear layer; OPL: outer plexiform layer; INL: inner nuclear layer; IPL: inner plexiform layer; GCL: ganglion cell layer.
