Multi-Sensor Integration Algorithms and Applications for Navigation

Description

In the field of navigation and positioning, integrated systems with multiple sensors have been proposed and developed for many years and have become a vital research area in this field. With the rapid development of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) and other navigation and positioning sensors, such as the inertial navigation system (INS), visual navigation sensors, laser sensors, ultra-wide band (UWB), and the Doppler velocity log (DVL), the performance of integrated navigation systems is constantly improving. Multi-sensor integration has also been applied in urban navigation, smart cities, and driverless vehicle navigation, among other fields.

The proper development of these applications is associated with the use of reliable data from multi-sensors, which requires the use of advanced signal processing techniques, sensor data fusion, and data processing (sometimes in real-time) in order to produce a reliable system and to avoid accidents or failures in the process. Therefore, the theory, methods, algorithms, and application of integrated sensors are crucial for precise and reliable navigation and positioning fields.

This Special Issue aims to highlight advances in the development, testing, and modeling of multi-sensor integration algorithms and applications for navigation and positioning. We welcome both original research and review articles.
