Effect of the ionic strength on the stability of hydroxylamine-reduced silver nanoparticles. The increment of the salt concentration enhances the formation of aggregates absorbing in the red part of the spectrum. The inset shows the energetic balance of the phenomenon according to the Derjaguin and Landau and Verwey and Overbeek (DLVO) theory as explained in the text.
