Cytokine production in joints, and sera . IL-4-deficient or wt mice infected with 1 107 GBS/mouse. Supernatants from joint homogenates, or blood samples were collected at the indicated times after infection and assayed for TNF-, IL-6, and IL-1 by ELISA as detailed in materials and methods (see Section 2). Values are the mean SD of three separate experiments each consisting of 20 mice per experimental group. Three mice per group were sacrificed at each time point.
