Flavonoid Naringenin: A Potential Immunomodulator for Chlamydia trachomatis Inflammation

Naringenin toxicity to mouse J774 macrophages is concentration dependent. Macrophages were seeded in a 96-well plate at a density of 105 cells/well/50 μL in the presence or absence of naringenin in concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 100 μg/mL. The CellTiter 96 Cell Proliferation Assay kit was used to determine cell viability. Absorbance was read at 570 nm and the percentage of cell viability was calculated by using the optical density readings compared to normal cells (a). A representative plate before the absorbance readings where dark purple and yellow wells are depictions of live and dead cells, respectively (b). The data are representative of three separate experiments.
