rSAA affects mRNA expression and gelatinolytic activity of MMP-2 and -9 in A172 and T98G cells. (a) Quantitative real-time PCR was performed to assess the mRNA expression of MMP-2 and -9 on gliomas when stimulated with rSAA (5 and 20 μg/mL) for 48 h. The mRNA expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 is increased by rSAA treatment in both gliomas. (b) Enzymatic activity of MMPs was measured in cellular supernatant. Activity data showed a decrease in MMP-2 and MMP-9 activity in A172 cell line, and an increase in MMP-2 and MMP-9 activity in T98G cell line.
