Serum cytokines levels after hip fracture and surgery. Rats were subjected to hip fracture and surgery (Fx + Sur) or anesthesia alone (sham). Animals were euthanized 1, 3, and 7 days after hip fracture and surgery, and blood was analyzed for the presence of IL-6 (a), TNF-α (b), IL-1β (c), and IL-10 (d) ( per group). Results are expressed as the mean ± SD. Analysis was done using one-way ANOVA with the Tukey post hoc test. * when compared to other groups.
