Dysregulated Circulating Dendritic Cell Function in Ulcerative Colitis Is Partially Restored by Probiotic Strain Lactobacillus casei Shirota

Figure 1

Restricted DC stimulatory capacity in UC. (a) Identification of dividing T cells following mixed leucocyte reaction (MLR) according to flow cytometry forward and side scatter dot plot and subsequent CD3 and CFSE histograms, respectively. (b) Dose response T cell proliferation following MLR. Results are displayed as mean ± SEM ( ). Base-level proliferation is shown as proportion of dividing T cells with no DC (0%). After paired two-way ANOVA analysis (corrected with Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons), the DC concentration was statistically significant in both cases ( ), that is, a dose response occurred in both cases. UC-DC were less stimulatory than control DC ( at 1%, 2%, and 3% DC).
