NAG-1/GDF15 Transgenic Mouse Has Less White Adipose Tissue and a Reduced Inflammatory Response

Peritoneal macrophages from WT and mice show no difference in the production of inflammatory cytokines in response to LPS. Peritoneal macrophages were isolated from WT and mice after 3 days of thioglycollate injection and plated on 60 mm dishes. After 24 hrs, cells were treated with LPS (1 ng/mL) and culture media were collected at the indicated time points. The levels of TNF-α and IL-6 from 3 dishes for each treatment were measured, in duplicate, using cytokine-specific ELISAs (R&D). The mean ± standard deviation is reported.
