High-Mobility Group Box-1 Induces Decreased Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor-Mediated Neuroprotection in the Diabetic Retina
Figure 2
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in rat retinas. There is a significant decrease in the expression of BDNF in the retinas of diabetic rats (D) compared with the nondiabetic control rats (N). Intravitreal administration of high-mobility group box-1 (HMGB1) induced a significant downregulation of the expression of BDNF compared with intravitreal administration of phosphate buffer saline (PBS). Each experiment was repeated 2 to 3 times with fresh samples ().
