Decreased Expression of the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor in Ocular Behcet’s Disease

Figure 2

FICZ and ITE inhibit the frequency of IL-17-expressing CD4+T cells but have no effect on IFN-γ-expressing CD4+T cells in PBMCs. PBMCs from active BD patients ( ) and normal controls ( ) were stimulated with anti-CD3/CD28 in the presence or absence of FICZ (100 nmol/L) or ITE (100 nmol/L) for 3 days. The cells were analyzed for intracellular expression of IFN-γ and IL-17 by flow cytometry. (a) Dot plots of a representative subject for each group are shown. (b and c) Quantitative analysis of the percentage of IFN-γ- and IL-17-expressing CD4+T cells. Paired-sample t test or Wilcoxon’s matched-pairs test for related samples and Independent-Sample t test for independent samples were used for statistical analyses. , ns: not statistically different.
