The expression of adiponectin was located in macrophages of atherosclerotic lesions from patients and cholesterol-fed rabbits by immunohistochemistry. Arterial serial sections from human atherosclerotic lesions (a), rabbits fed regular chow (b), or 2% cholesterol-containing diet for 6 weeks ((c), (d)) were stained for macrophages or adiponectin antibodies.
