(a) Effects of COS on ocular inflammation demonstrated by clinical scores. The rats in each group were clinically observed on a daily basis using slit lamp biomicroscopy for clinical signs of ocular inflammation. Disease severity was clinically assessed with a scale ranging from 0 to 4. The data are expressed as the mean ± SD (∗ compared with the PBS-treated group; # compared with the normal group; & compared with the low-dose group by Kruskal-Wallis test with post hoc Dunn test; for each group).
