Chitosan Oligosaccharides Attenuate Ocular Inflammation in Rats with Experimental Autoimmune Anterior Uveitis
(a) Effects of COS on ocular inflammation demonstrated by clinical scores. The rats in each group were clinically observed on a daily basis using slit lamp biomicroscopy for clinical signs of ocular inflammation. Disease severity was clinically assessed with a scale ranging from 0 to 4. The data are expressed as the mean ± SD (∗ compared with the PBS-treated group; # compared with the normal group; & compared with the low-dose group by Kruskal-Wallis test with post hoc Dunn test; for each group). (b) Representative clinical photographs of the four groups at days 10, 14, 17, and 20 are shown.
