Neuroinflammation Induced by Surgery Does Not Impair the Reference Memory of Young Adult Mice

Microglia activation after surgery. Low levels of CD11b immunoreactivity were detected in the naïve and anesthesia groups at any time points studied. In contrast, an intensive number of CD11b positive cells were detected in the hippocampus at 6 h and 24 h after surgery in the surgery group. At 48 h after surgery, the proportion of CD11b positive cells was comparable in the surgery group and anesthesia group. The percentage of positive area was measured by ImageJ.
