Th17 Cytokines Disrupt the Airway Mucosal Barrier in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

The Th17 cytokines cause a profound disruption of the tight junction in CRS. Effect of IFN-α, IFN-β, IFN-γ, IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, IL-17, IL-22, IL-26, and negative control on the localization of Zona Occludens-1 (ZO-1) (in red with DAPI stain in green) was imaged with 20x objective power using immunofluorescence confocal laser scanning microscopy 24 hours after application of the cytokines.
