Distinct Signature of Oxylipid Mediators of Inflammation during Infection and Asymptomatic Colonization by E. coli in the Urinary Bladder

Figure 8

UPEC infection and ABEC colonization induce production of oxylipids from the cytochrome P450 epoxygenase pathway. Levels of 8,9-EET, 8,9-DHET, 11,12-EET, 11,12-DHET, 14,15-EET, 14,15-DHET, 9,10-EPOME, 9,10-DiHOME, 12,13-EPOME, and 12,13-DiHOME in mouse urinary bladders inoculated with PBS, UPEC, and ABEC were determined by LC-MS/MS (female CBA/J, ). Mean + SEM are presented here. , , , and , ANOVA with Bonferroni’s multiple comparison test. PBS, sham-inoculated control; UPEC, uropathogenic E. coli; ABEC, asymptomatic bacteriuric E. coli; CFT, UPEC strain CFT073; ABU, ABEC strain 83972; h PI, hour postinoculation; EET, epoxy eicosatrienoic acid; DHET, dihydroxy eicosatrienoic acid; EpOME, epoxy octadecenoic acid; and DiHOME, dihydroxy octadecenoic acid.
