Basil Polysaccharide Reverses Development of Experimental Model of Sepsis-Induced Secondary Staphylococcus aureus Pneumonia

Figure 6

Effects of basil polysaccharide treatment on the ability of macrophages to eliminate and swallow bacteria. (a, b) 12 h BPS treatment was conducted on macrophages, followed by 30 min of S. aureus (MOI, 10) or FITC-labeled S. aureus infection under 37°C. We then determined the swallowed FITC-labeled S. aureus count and intracellular bacterial killing ( h) according to specific descriptions. (c, d) After 12 h of BPS treatment, Western blotting assay was conducted to determine p38MAPK signals within macrophages. , , and , upon one-way ANOVA as well as LSD multiple comparisons, in comparison with the BPS group.
