Endangered Lymphocytes: The Effects of Alloxan and Streptozotocin on Immune Cells in Type 1 Induced Diabetes

<div>Short-term diabetogenic effects of ALX and STZ on the basal levels of cytokines in spleen and pancreas homogenates. T1D was induced as described in Methods, and (a) spleens and (b) pancreases were collected on the 15<sup>th</sup> day. Tissue homogenates from the CT, ALX-, and STZ-treated groups were evaluated for the presence of the cytokines IL-1<i>β</i>, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12p70, IL-17, TNF-<i>α</i>, and IFN-<i>γ</i>.
