State-of-the-Art Wireless Emerging Technologies for Beyond 5G/B5G Communication

Description

The digitalization of society has resulted in a range of data-driven technology, services, and applications. 5G networks have recently been created and deployed to meet the different vertical sectors such as network industries, intelligent transportation systems and smart cities.

However, it is evident that the future of society's sustainable growth will necessitate increasingly disruptive and exacting technology, services and applications. Beyond-5G (B5G) networks, i.e., 6G networks, are expected to support ever-advanced services and applications with peak data rates of up to 1 Tbps per user, making life smoother and safer. They also provide a more ubiquitous, reliable and near-instant service than any global business model seen thus far.

The aim of this Special Issue is to identify and address novel approaches and concepts, innovations, standards, possible use cases, open research questions, technical obstacles to and viable solution methodologies for B5G wireless networks. This research is welcomed in the form of original research and review articles.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • 5GB5G wireless technologies including D2D communications, NOMA spectrum utilization, mmWave communication, massive MIMO systems
  • SDN frameworks and deployment scenarios in IoT, IoV
  • Intelligent beamforming in emerging antennas
  • Antenna design for advanced PHY layer communication
  • Full-duplex transmission, SWIPT and DF systems
  • MEC and edge computing and green communication
  • Machine learning algorithms for wireless networks
  • Wearable system, THz and IoE technologies
  • Optical methods for 5G/B5G systems
  • AI, big data and optimization techniques for wireless systems UAV, V2V, and V2X technologies
