Collaborative Mobile Applications

Description

In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the application of collaboration elements in the design of interactive applications. With the advance of mobile technologies, it has been made easier for mobile devices to support collaborative activities.

However, just putting a group of people around a task does not guarantee a real collaboration; it is necessary to structure activities in order to convey a good collaboration. The use of smartphones and tablets allows the creation of entirely new ways of working, building new collaborative possibilities that, combined with other trends of cloud and enhanced information access and mobility and social collaboration, can transform existing business models.

This Special Issue aims to give the academic and practice point of view on relevant topics of the design of collaborative applications in mobile scenarios. In addition, as collaboration is becoming a principal part of our lives, applying it in the design of applications in mobile scenarios is an increasingly necessary action which researchers must begin to take into consideration. This Special Issue will help to increase researchers and practitioners’ awareness about the possibilities offered by considering collaboration as a vital element in the design and implementation of interactive applications. We welcome both original research and review articles.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborative design applications
  • Mobile collaboration
  • Evaluation of collaboration
  • Awareness and collaboration
  • User experience (UX) in collaborative mobile applications
  • Methodologies for the design of collaborative mobile applications
  • Variables influencing collaboration in mobile scenarios
  • Collaborative mobile learning
