Mobile Internet of Things (IoT) Multi-sensor Data Fusion

This issue is now closed for submissions.

Description

Multi sensor data fusion technology is to use multiple sensors to collect data from the same target, analyze and synthesize the collected data using computer technology, and form data with high accuracy and low redundancy to support the decision-making process. Many nodes in the Internet of Things are composed of sensor networks, in which a large number of sensors work together. They process different information respectively. Similarly, they also have different data structures and information representations. If we want to use this information or the laws and connections between them, we need to deeply study the data fusion technology.

Sensor data fusion is to synthesize the local data resources provided by multiple sensors of the same or different types distributed in different locations and use computer technology to analyze them to eliminate the redundancy and contradictions that may exist between multi-sensor information. This is in order to complement each other, reduce its uncertainty and to obtain consistent interpretation and description of the measured object, thereby improving the rapidity and correctness of system decision-making, planning, and response, so that the system can obtain more sufficient information. Information fusion appears at different information levels, including data level fusion, feature level fusion, and decision level fusion. Multi-sensor data fusion technology was formed in the 1980s and has become a research hotspot. Compared with single sensor information, multi-sensor data fusion has the advantages of fault tolerance, complementarity, real-time performance, and economic efficiency, so it has been gradually promoted and applied.

The iterative progress of sensor technology, IoT technology, and the miniaturization of sensors make the Internet of Things contain more sensors. The data fusion and data conversion between these sensors become particularly important, which promotes the development of multi-sensor data fusion technology. The unification and fusion of multi-sensor data helps to build an Internet of Things system integrating computers, intelligent devices, home devices, and other devices, and helps to form a unified interface and unified specification.

This Special Issue aims to provide a channel for relevant researchers to display their achievements and exchange experience, mainly focusing on the theoretical research and relevant application research of multi-sensor data fusion based on mobile IoT.
