Laguerre polynomials (top), Laguerre analysis functions (middle), and weight function (bottom). The convolution of a signal by the Laguerre analysis functions yields Laguerre coefficients (analysis). The linear combinations of the Laguerre polynomials weighted by the coefficients give an approximation of the original signal (synthesis), with a quality that decreases towards the past in a way related to the weight function.
