Mathematical Modeling for Resources and Environmental Systems

Description

Effective planning of resources and environmental systems have been of concerns in the past decades since contamination and resource-scarcity problems have led to a variety of impacts and liabilities. However, achieving a reasonable and efficient management strategy is difficult since many conflicting factors have to be balanced due to complexities of the real-world problems. Mathematical models are recognized as effective tools that could help examine economic, environmental, and ecological impacts of alternative pollution-control and resources-conservation actions and thus aid planners or decision-makers in formulating cost-effective management policies.

This special issue aims at gathering research works focusing on the development of mathematical models for resources and environmental systems. We invite authors to submit original research and review articles that seek effective mathematical models in dealing with problems in fields of resources and environmental studies. Papers submitted to this special issue will contribute to the development of innovative simulation and optimization models or new applications of mathematical methods to real-world studies to aid planners to propose ever more comprehensive and ambitious plans for managing resources and environmental systems. Potential topics include, but are not be limited to:

  • Simulation and optimization of resources and environmental systems
  • Mathematical methods for uncertainty analysis
  • Modeling of fate and transport of contaminants in environmental systems
  • Environmental risk assessment and vulnerability analysis
  • Optimization and control of pollution mitigation processes
  • Environmental statistics and multicriteria decision analysis
  • Climate change impact assessment and adaptation planning
  • Modeling for environmental policy analysis
  • Environmental, ecological, and resources management and planning
  • Decision support systems for environment and sustainable development
  • Artificial intelligence to environmental studies

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/mpe/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/mpe/mmes/ according to the following timetable:
