Green Transformation and Upgrading of the Manufacturing Industry

Description

In recent years, there has been an upsurge in manufacturing demand in developed industrialized countries, leading to the rearrangement of the national industrial systems and the expansion of new paths of modern industrial development. Moreover, under pressure to reduce carbon emissions and to achieve carbon neutralization, the global manufacturing industry is facing increasingly tight environmental and resource constraints. In addition, the rising cost of production is a serious situation, leading green transformation and upgrading to become an active choice for the development of manufacturing industry.

At present, the green transformation and sustainable development and upgrading of the manufacturing industry must be the focus of both industry and academia. Therefore, it is of great theoretical value and practical significance for the sustainable development of the global manufacture to study the path, methods, and technologies of green transformation and upgrading.

In this Special Issue, we will invite research articles focusing on the green transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry. We hope to gather research from scholars in relevant fields around the world on the theory, technology, methods, and decision-making of green transformation and upgrading, and to positively contribute to the sustainable development of manufacturing industry by mathematical modelling. Our aim is to report the latest obstacles, challenges, mathematical problems, and opportunities facing the manufacturing industry in the process of green transformation and sustainable development. We welcome both original research and review articles.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Optimal solutions for resource allocation in green supply chains or reverse supply chains
  • Data-driven modeling for green product design and manufacturing
  • Efficiency optimization methods for remanufacturing and low carbon manufacturing
  • Application of big data theory and methods in the innovative operation and management of regional economic sustainability
  • Mathematical modeling for sustainable production
  • Decision theory for sustainable development of manufacturing industry
  • Other data modeling and mathematical problems involved in green transformation and upgrading
