Mathematical Modeling, Analysis, and Advanced Control of Complex Dynamical Systems

Description

As most of technological environmental or practical systems have a high complexity, complex dynamical systems became the subject of intensive research in systems and control theory. The complexity of the system leads to severe difficulties that are encountered in the tasks of analyzing the system and designing and implementing appropriate control strategies algorithms. For instance, in complex dynamical systems these severe difficulties may result from the abrupt phenomena such as component and interconnection failures, parameters shifting, tracking, and the time required to measure some of the variables at different stages. Here, the mathematical modeling and advanced control will provide a basis for the design and operation of complex dynamical systems; these advanced techniques would result in potential and sustainable benefits.

The overall aim of this special issue is to provide an up-to-date overview of the research directions and advanced methodologies in the complex dynamical systems. Of particular interest the papers in this special issue are devoted to the development of mathematical modeling, analysis, and control problems of complex dynamical systems, including switched hybrid systems, variable-structure systems with discontinuous dynamical systems, stochastic jumping system, and fuzzy systems, for instance. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Modeling of complex dynamical systems including multi-time-scale systems and hybrid systems
  • Stability analysis of complex dynamical systems with time delay effects
  • Robust control and observer design
  • Filtering and model reduction/approximation
  • Fault detection, diagnosis, and supervisory control
  • Applications of complex dynamic systems to large-scale systems
