Operations Research in Engineering Problems: Potential Applications and Perspectives

Due to the increasing complexity in the real world, time and marginal constraints have been created in the decision-making problems that organizations face. The main aim of operations research (OR) is to apply developed analytical methods to help make better decisions. A significant feature of OR is its overall look at the system and trying to improve it as a whole instead of focusing on one or more system components.
As a result, finding the optimal solution based on the type of problem under study through the use of OR plays a major role in the decision-making process. In this regard, most planners and decision-makers have turned their attention to employ OR and its tools, including mathematical modelling, decision analysis, and simulation, with the aim of rational dealing with complex real-world problems, especially engineering issues, and optimizing systems having many variables.
The aim of this Special Issue is to introduce the potential applications of operations research in the face of engineering problems. Given the complexities of such problems, this can increase the performance of decision-makers in system modelling and optimization and decision-making process by developing the practical aspects of operations research. Original research and review articles are welcome.
