Advanced Transportation Mathematical Modeling and Simulation
Description
Transportation congestion prevails in many metropolitan areas and poses a substantial threat to the economy and to the quality of life of billions of people worldwide. A range of challenging transportation operational and safety problems exist and need to be efficiently and effectively solved.
In this special issue, we invite and encourage authors to submit original review and research articles that focus on advanced mathematical modeling and simulation techniques that have been applied and/or developed to solve challenging problems in the relevant areas of transportation and traffic engineering.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Transportation planning and demand forecasting
- Road congestion pricing and reliability
- Emergence evacuation and modeling
- Traffic flow theory and models
- Intelligent transportation system (ITS)
- Transportation logistics and supply chain management
- Transit, rail, and freight systems operations
- Mathematical modeling in traffic engineering and operations
- Transportation alternative fuels and energy modeling
- Traffic safety and simulation modeling
- Transportation vehicle engine design and performance modeling
- Transportation fleet management and equipment replacement modeling
