New Engineering Solutions for Rehabilitation Systems for Dependent Patients
Description
Rehabilitation systems focus on the mathematical modeling, design, and development of innovative engineering solutions for assisted therapy and the objective functional evaluation of patients with reduced motor and cognitive abilities. New proposed designs play a crucial role in augmenting existing therapeutic systems to improve a patient's achievable functional recovery.
Much research has been undertaken in recent years, in both academia and industry, to model, design, and develop novel rehabilitative and assistive technologies, and to investigate new methods to help monitor, improve, and recover cognitive and motor functions. The development and establishment of new and innovative applications in rehabilitation systems to optimize the function and wellbeing of patients is an urgent challenge, one that requires the transfer of research and knowledge on instrumentation and control engineering, sensor systems, computer vision, artificial intelligence (AI), and robotics.
This Special Issue aims to provide an opportunity for researchers to present their research and ideas in the field of rehabilitation systems. Researchers are invited to contribute original research as well as review articles that summarize the most recent developments, mathematical models, and ideas in the field of rehabilitation systems.
