Neural Stem Cell Transplant-Induced Effect on Neurogenesis and Cognition in Alzheimer Tg2576 Mice Is Inhibited by Concomitant Treatment with Amyloid-Lowering or Cholinergic 7 Nicotinic Receptor Drugs

Figure 5

The number of newly generated neurons correlates with the proportion of 7 nicotinic receptor-expressing astrocytes in the dentate gyrus of hNSC-transplanted Tg2576 mice. The number of maturing Doublecortin- (DCX+-) labeled cells showed a significant positive correlation with the number of 7 nicotinic receptor/glial fibrillary acidic protein-positive (nAChR+/GFAP+) cells in the dentate gyrus of Tg2576 mice (, , ). The data are expressed as the mean value for each parameter in the hNSC-transplanted, saline-treated mice (hNSC + SAL) and the hNSC-transplanted, JN403-treated mice (hNSC + JN).
