Localization of Presynaptic Plasticity Mechanisms Enables Functional Independence of Synaptic and Ectopic Transmission in the Cerebellum

Figure 10

Modulation of NMDA-induced depression of neuronal and glial currents. (a) Mean EPSC1 amplitude following incubation with 30 μM NMDA and 10 μM glycine, either alone or in the presence of the stated inhibitors (L-NAME, 100 μM; ODQ, 10 μM; SR141716, 5 μM; CPG 52432, 10 μM). Control data from untreated cells stimulated for the same period are provided for reference. Data are mean ± s.e.m. from 5–7 cells. Statistical significance was tested by Dunnett’s multiple comparisons test following one-way ANOVA. (b) Mean ESC1 amplitude following incubation with 30 μM NMDA and 10 μM glycine, either alone or in the presence of the stated inhibitors (L-NAME, 100 μM; ODQ, 10 μM; SR141716, 5 μM; CPG 52432, 10 μM). Control data are provided for reference. Data are mean ± s.e.m. from 5–9 cells. Statistical significance was tested by Dunnett’s multiple comparisons test following one-way ANOVA. ; .
