<div>The distal colon was processed for H&amp;E staining to evaluate TNBS-induced local damage. Colitis rats (c), instead of the control (a) and vehicle groups (b), exhibited severe colonic damage marked by massive transmural inflammatory cell infiltration and thickening of the colonic wall. However, rats in the EA group manifested slight architecture change of colon tissue and moderate transmural inflammatory cell infiltration (d).</div>
