The Hydrogen Sulfide Donor NaHS Delays Programmed Cell Death in Barley Aleurone Layers by Acting as an Antioxidant
NaHS delays PCD in GA-treated barley aleurone layers. Aleurone layers are incubated in water, GA, or GA + NaHS (GA + H2S) and, after being stained with trypan blue, images are obtained by light microscopy (a) and the percentage of dead cells is shown in (b). Content of (c), activity of POD (d), and LOX (e) are measured on 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 d. Bar, 100 μm. Data in (c) and (d) are expressed as means ± SD of three independent experiments with three replicates of 15 grains per treatment.
