Results are expressed as mean ± SE (). The reaction mixture was composed of the rat liver homogenate, 0.1 mM FeSO4, 3 mM H2O2, and various concentrations of oligonol or BHT. After incubation at 37°C for 10 min, the amount of MDA formation was measured by the method of Buege and Aust. Inhibition (%) of MDA formation in oligonol or BHT was calculated based on the amount of MDA formation of the FeSO4/H2O2-treated control after subtracting the normal.
